Remember that the OEM intercooler was designed for calm everyday driving and to keep manufacturing costs low. If you make performance modifications to your engine that increase boost and therefore intake airflow, the OEM intercooler will be maxed out, and won't be able to keep up with your mods. Even-spirited driving with an unmodified engine can max out the intercooler.
Quite simply, the do88 intercooler lowers the intake air temperature substantially. Cooler air is denser and carries more oxygen, which improves performance.
Also, the do88 intercooler has aluminum tanks. The OEM plastic tanks are not well suited to higher boost pressures, and will eventually crack and leak. The do88 intercooler solves this problem, increasing reliability.
