While the N20 engine from BMW is mostly reliable, the timing system is its Achilles heal. The original timing chains from the factory are prone to stretching and the chain guides can wear out faster than expected, which lead BMW to update the chains and tensioner.

If you BMW's N20 is showing signs of the timing chain failing, such as excessive noise or metal particles in the oil, we highly suggest replacing your timing components with the updated chains, tensioners, and guides included in this kit!
