An integral part of the emissions system, the PCV valve lets the crank case vent pressure and typically recirculate it through the intake and back into the engine. Excessive oil in the intake can indicate a bad PCV, and heat and underhood conditions often crack the plastic or damage the diaphragm and cause leaks.
