The mass air flow sensor (MAF) measures the mass of air ingested by the engine. The vehicle computer uses this information with inputs from other sensors to calculate the correct amount of fuel needed for efficient combustion. Failed or contaminated MAF sensors cause numerous performance problems, including poor idle quality or stalling, and check engine light illumination with stored trouble codes.
To be sure your new MAF works well and lasts long, check all air intake hoses and ducts for looseness or damage, and inspect the engine air filter. ECS Tuning stocks hoses, ducts, clamps, and filters to repair common air intake problems.
