Bolt on the ability to make big power while retaining your current intake, downpipe, and intercooler with this IS38 turbo kit! This kit includes a brand new IS38 turbocharger from the Golf R and S3 along with the ECS Tuning pre-installed Turbo Blanket and Turbo Muffler Delete Pipe to give your GTI or A3 the legendary power the Golf R and S3 came stock with!
With the ECS Turbo Blanket, you can expect to see lower underhood temperatures and faster turbocharger response time due to capturing the heat within the turbine housing and more effectively using the heat energy produced from the engine. By having this pre-installed you no longer need any special tools to install the safety wire! Ultra-convenient and a huge time saver!
The pre-installed ECS Turbo Muffler Delete Pipe allows a straight-through, uninterrupted pathway to the intercooler pipes for faster response time and more induction noise! A must have for performance and sound!
ECU tuning is required to utilize this upgrade and ECS Tuning recommends APR's IS38 software upgrade which makes up to an asphalt pounding 386 horsepower and 403 ft/lbs of torque on 93 octane pump gas depending on accompanying mods! The required modifications to run this software are at minimum a upgraded aftermarket downpipe, as well as a upgrade to the colder Denso Iridium IKH24 Spark Plugs (NOT included in this kit). These will be gapped to 0.0024" ±0.002" or 0.6mm ±0.05mm and will require a 10-15,000 mile replacement interval to increase the longevity and safety of your engine.
It is highly recommended to also upgrade your intake and intercooler to achieve the most possible power and reliability. It will also be a possibility to require a stronger clutch depending on the health of your stock unit and your driving habits. DSG owners are also recommended to perform a DSG TCU performance software upgrade which we again recommend APR's DQ250 TCU Upgrade (ES#: 2960798).
