Most M52/S52 owners have already learned about the dreaded oil pressure issues associated with high performance driving situations. Road driven cars may be fine with the factory sump and pickup arrangement, but those who wish to race, drift, or track their car in any meaningful way will need to deal with the problem sooner than later - and better to do so before you lose oil pressure on the first turn at an event and wipe out your connecting rod bearings, main bearings, and cams. This type of damage can be extremely costly, to your wallet and your mental state.
BMW devised a cure with the development of the dual pickup system used in the S54, and thankfully, this system can be retrofitted to the M52/S52 to solve these oil pickup problems.
Using a scavenging system that constantly supplies the rear sump with oil, this robust solution can handle the most extreme performance conditions with ease.
We offer a few ways to purchase this kit - you will need to choose between purchasing with a new upgraded high volume VAC pump, a new Genuine pump with the VAC shaft upgrade kit, the upgrade kit by itself, or no pump solution so you can locate and source your own S54 oil pump and sprocket.
We highly recommend the assembled VAC high volume pump - this not only give you a boost in oil volume over the stock pump and has the upgraded shaft and sprocket pre-installed. This is by far the most effective and simplest solution.
